It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since we did the sold out Splendour In the Boatyard 2022, but it’s that time of year again, and we have an awesome lineup of original music to whet your musical whistle on the 4th of November 2023. We are pulling the stops out to bring you the best all killa no filla lineup of original local music from all around North QLD you will see anywhere in Cairns this month.

In other news, Big Trev may have exited the building, but our mate Brenno has taken over the kitchen and the takeaway place at 61 Tingirra st Portsmith is now called “Brennos”. Brenno has been a long time friend of The Brazilians and Pandamonium Records, having been present at the original jam sessions at The Parkview Tavern in Gordonvale where The Brazilians formed. Formerly the chef at The Parkview in it’s heyday, Brenno has some mad cooking skills, and we are excited to see what he comes with to tempt your taste buds! Being a muso himself, Brenno is also committed to working with us to continually improve the the place as a live music venue, huzzah!

THE BANDS..

The Juliettes – started as a small TAFE music student project but singer/songwriter Jules had a dream, a will and a short line up of songs that they got to working on in hopes of playing the Tablelands Folk Festival. In October 2021 they opened the 40th Anniversary Yungaburra folk festival. Jules had attended this festival for the first time at 4 months old and watched her parents perform there many times after. This same year, Juliettes band member Bella won the Original Songwriters Competition. We look forward to the return of The Juliettes!

Benny & The Clones (Port Douglas)

Born out of a mutual love of music, beer, party pies and sausage rolls, The Clones have been playing original music in Tropical North Queensland for the better part of a decade. The band consists of the core trio of Port Douglas-based friends Ben Radford (Guitar, Lead Vox) Ben Kuring (Drums) and Dale Priem (Guitar), and various special guests depending on the occasion – usually on bass. Accolades include winning the People’s Choice award in the 2008 Douglas Songwriting contest, third prize in the 2015 Port Douglas Street Art and Music Festival competition, airplay on Triple J, and seventh place in the inaugural Port Douglas Muso Hot Dog Eating Contest last year.

Barefoot Beck (Cooktown)

Rebecca Payne from the legendary Barefoot Belles is now out with her own 3 piece band delivering powerful hard rock/punk anthems. If you like your rock hard and your punk old school, if it’s about fun not fitting in, then make sure you don’t miss Barefoot Beck’s Panda Room debut!

The Brazilians

The De facto Panda Room house band (well it’s their P.A and lighting rig powering the gig, and the venue is their drummers fast food shop!) The Brazilians were borne in the pubs nestled amongst the Mulgrave Delta cane fields of deep far north Queensland. The band got their start playing loud and proud, the twin guitar attack of Macalpine & Williams competing against the industrial din of the Gordonvale sugar mill pumping 24/7 across the road from their gigs.

The Brazilians rock. Has a great tough swagger!!!!! Love it” – Ray Ahn, The Hard Ons

Blending the lyrical wit and wisdom of Supersuckers and the musical chops of AC/DC getting their blues on” – Dave Franklin, Dancing About Architecture
