Category: The Panda Room

Once a regular event at the iconic Johnos Blues Bar, the legendary Pandamonium Big Night Out showcase hosted many nights of unforgettable live music with both local and touring acts. Pandamonium Records are bringing THE BIG NIGHT OUT back to the future.. and to The Panda Room!

Featuring 5 of the best local original acts with professional production and no lame noise restrictions, The first Panda Room BIG NIGHT OUT will be a live music party to remember! The first Panda Room Big Night Out will feature – Enemy Of Anemone, The Raconteurs, Manuka, The Brazilians and Savidas.

Big Trev will be serving delicious hot food and don’t forget – the Panda Room is BYO so bring your own drinks and esky (cheap night out yay!). No alcohol is sold at the venue.

The last Panda Room gig sold out and we expect this one to do the same. The last one we were a bit conservative about how many tickets to sell because we weren’t sure how many we could comfortably fit in the venue, but have decided this time time we will sell 120 tickets, and once they go, there will be none sold at the door, so get in quick!

The Raconteurs Movers and shakers in the Cairns music scene, The Raconteurs have been doing their thing since they were founded by David Breeze in 2004. The raconteurs have had as many line up changes, but have been able to keep their vision alive. The Raconteurs have a love of all things funky and downright groovy, expect to hear some Ska and funk that will get your feet moving.

Manuka merge electronic sounds into their dub funk tracks about consciousness, culture & environment. Featuring members of legendary NQ bands Hot Rubber Glove, Souvenir City and Snakecharmer, Manuka keep the tribal funk alive. The above 3 bands were no strangers to the original Pandamonium BIG NIGHT OUTs at Johnos, and we think it is only fitting that a band comprised of their members play the inaugural Panda Room BIG NIGHT OUT!

The Brazilians are the De facto Panda Room house band (well it’s their P.A and lighting rig powering the gig, and the venue is their drummers fast food shop!) The Brazilians were borne in the pubs nestled amongst the Mulgrave Delta cane fields of deep far north Queensland. The band got their start playing loud and proud, the twin guitar attack of Macalpine & Williams competing against the industrial din of the Gordonvale sugar mill pumping 24/7 across the road from their gigs.

The Brazilians rock. Has a great tough swagger!!!!! Love it” – Ray Ahn, The Hard Ons
